Girls Junior Varsity Basketball Finish up with a WIN vs. Stevenson

Eagles Win: 45 - 25
The girls JV Basketball team finished up the season with a win - starting off strong on a run by Aryonna Jackson who scored 10 of her 12 points in the first quarter - contributing to the 18-2 lead at the end of one.   The Eagles continued their momentum in the 2nd quarter forcing Titan turnovers and ending the half with a substantial 24-8 lead.  The third quarter was a bit of a different story, as Stevenson staged a bit of a comeback, forcing Eagle turnovers, out-rebounding and hitting some key shots - - ending the quarter with a 34-22 score. The Eagles stifled any further scoring from the visiting team, finishing up the game with every player contributing to the final score - including a couple of visitors from the Freshman team. Scoring was led by Jackson with 12, followed by Kenzie Brinkmann, Layna Sturza and Amy Sidaway each contributing 6.  Abby Klaft and Alexa Shkreli pitched in 4 a piece, Molly Yeske, Lexy Koslakiewicz and Delani Bruno scored 2 each and Lexi Horattas hit a free throw to round out the scoring. Best of luck to the girls in any spring sports they may be participating in and good luck to the Varsity girls as they take on Rochester Stony Creek next Wednesday in  Districts.

Eagles Lose: 22 - 44
The JV had their hands full on both ends of the court on Tuesday vs. Grosse Pointe South, playing without their head coach and vs. a very physical and strong GPS squad.  They fell behind in the first and though they came within 8 early in the fourth, the Blue Devils continued to force turnovers, dominate rebounds and capitalize on scoring opportunities, resulting in a 22-44 loss. Aryonna Jackson led the scoring with 10 points, Abby Klaft provided a spark with 4 points, Londyn Maples and Amy Sidaway each pitched in 3 and Kenzie Brinkmann scored 2 points.    The Girls Basketball teams travel to Port Huron on Thursday.

Eagles Win: 39 - 31
The JV team started the game strong with plenty of rebounds to take a 14-5 lead in the first quarter. Tough play in the second quarter led to an Eagle advantage 22-12 at the half. The third quarter allowed Ike to increase their lead to 34-22. The Huskies tried to make a run in the fourth quarter narrowing the gap, but the Eagles held on to win 39-31! Aryonna Jackson led the team in scoring with 16 points with Amy Sidaway contributing 8 points making them the top scorers for the night. Maggie McGuire had 6 points followed by Kenzie Brinkmann with 3 points. Bella Yeske, Layna Sturza and Lexi Horattas rounded out the scoring with 2 points each.

Eagles Win: 41 - 19
The JV girls came out with a win on Wednesday in Grosse Pointe, but not without a little excitement and anticipation.  The girls started out in a deficit after one but then held the Norsemen scoreless in the 2nd quarter, heading into halftime with a lead.  In the third, the Eagles scored just 1 point the entire quarter, but then put the pedal to the metal in the 4th and came out with a substantial 41-19 victory.  The team have vastly improved at the Free-throw line, scoring 60% of their free-throws, led by Maggie McGuire who went 3-3 , Bella Yeske who went 3-4 and Amy Sidaway who went 5-8.  The scoring sheet reflected a team effort with Sidaway scoring 9, followed by McGuire with 6 and Bella Yeske with 5.   Bridget Hafter and Kenzie Brinkmann scored 4 a piece, Aryonna Jackson scored 3, Molly Yeske, Layna Sturza, Abbie Brecht and Lexi Horattas all pitched in 2 points while Londyn Maples and Alexis Shkreli each scored a free-throw.

Eagles Lose: 22 - 35
The JV team traveled to Dakota to play their crosstown rival on Tuesday night. The Cougars came out strong in the first quarter out rebounding the Eagles and taking a 0-10 lead. The Eagles rebounded in the second quarter to bring the score to  7-16 at halftime.  Fighting back in the 3rd quarter by playing tough defense and hitting the boards, the Eagles closed the gap to  17-25. Turnovers in the 4th quarter let the Cougars build their lead with a final score of  22-35.  Londyn Maples led the scoring with 6 points, Maggie McGuire and Kenzie Brinkmann each had 4 points, followed by Aryonna Jackson with 3 points. Bridget Hafner and Bella Yeske each contributed 2 points and Alexa Shkreli made a free throw for 1 point.   The Girls Basketball teams travel to Grosse Point North on Wednesday and host Port Huron North on Friday.  
JV Girls Basketball Big Comeback Win

Eagles Win: 37 - 32
The JV Girls hosted Port Huron High on Thursday and it was a battle to the bitter end.   The first quarter saw the girls struggle to hit the net and Big Reds dominating the boards, but Bridget Hefner hit a 3 pointer late in the quarter, which kept the game close, 7-10 at the end of one.  Port Huron continued to dominate the boards, pulling down rebounds on both ends of the court, but the Eagles continued to fight, finishing the half at a 13-17 deficit.   After three quarters, the score was 24-27 and the Eagles began to chip away at Port Hurons lead by forcing turnovers on defense and rebounding. Key free throws by Bella Yekse and Maggie McGuire contributed to putting Ike back on top in the fourth as the girls came out on top at the end, 37-32.   This was a true team effort with several players contributing.  Aryonna Jackson led the scoring with 8 points, McGuire pitched in 6, Alexa Shkreli scored 5, Yeske and Kenzie Brinkmann both had 4, Hefner and Amy Sidaway added 3 a piece, while Londyn Maples and Lexi Horattas both scored 2 points. The JV Girls improve their record to 6-1 and travel to Dakota on Monday 3/1.

Eagles Lose: 36 - 42
It was a bit of a rollercoaster on Tuesday evening as the JV team traveled to Grosse Pointe South to take on the Blue Devils.   Strong defense held the Devils to 2 points total in the first quarter and he team struggled to put the ball in the net, but ended up 7-2 after 1.   The second quarter was a entirely different story as the Devils came up with 10 unanswered points to come out to a lead, early in the 2nd.   The Eagles fought back and finished the half with a slight 19-18 advantage.   Foul trouble, turnovers and missed free-throws were the story of the 2nd half.   The Devils went up in the 3rd and did not turn back, dealing the JV Eagles their first loss of the season, 36-42.   Amy Sidaway led the scoring with her season high 13 points, followed by Maggie McGuire, who also had her season high 9 points and Bella Yeske scored 8 points, tying her season high.  Yeske and McGuire accounted for 9 of the teams points from the free-throw line.  Kenzie Brinkmann pitched in 3,  Abby Klaft, Bridget Hafner and Londyn Maples all scored 1 a piece.    The girls host Port Huron on Thursday after the Freshman team at 5:30 - followed by Varsity at 7.

Eagles Win: 51 - 3
The JV Girls Basketball Team increased their winning streak with a victory on Wednesday afternoon over the visiting Grosse Pointe North Norsemen.  Everyone on the team scored and the highlight of the game was the VAST IMPROVEMENT on their free-throw shooting - hitting 13 of 21 from the line. Amy Sidaway led the scoring with 12 points, followed by Abby Klaft with 8. Bella Yeske and Abbie Brecht each scored 5 and Layna Sturza added 4.  Maggie McGuire and Molly Yeske each chipped in 3 points,  Aryonna Jackson, Londyn Maples, Lexi Horattas, Bridget Hafner, and Alexa Shkreli all scored 2 points and Kenzie Brinkmann added 1 as the team finished up the night with a 51-3 win, remaining undefeated (4-0) on the season. The girls teams travel this  Friday to Port Huron North, which promises to be a good matchup.

Eagles Win: 40 - 37
In a VERY exciting matchup - the Lady Eagles managed to pull off a victory vs. a strong Dakota team.   The game started off evenly matched and after one quarter, was tied up 10-10.  Londyn Maples stepped up with some key defensive plays and rebounds,  Aryonna Jackson also played very aggressive in the first half with the pair combining for 12 points, putting Ike on top at halftime 20-16.   The aggressive play continued in the 2nd half and Ike improved from the freethrow line.  They hit some key free throws and made some key stops and headed into the final quarter with a 30-22 edge.  Dakota came out strong in the first 2 minutes of the 4th with a full-court press, forcing turnovers and narrowing the gap to 30-29.  The pressure continued, but Ike pushed through for a hard-earned 40-37 win. Aryonna Jackson led the scorers for Eisenhower with a season high 16 points, followed by Bella Yeske with 8,  Amy Sidaway with 6, Bridget Hafner and Londyn Maples both scored 4 and Kenzie Brinkmann pitched in 2.   The Girls Basketball teams host Grosse Pointe North on Wednesday and heads to Port Huron North on Friday.  
JV Girls Tip-off with Big Win vs. Utica High

Eagles Win: 42 - 14
The JV Girls came out strong in their home-opener vs. cross-town rival Utica High on Thursday.  They jumped out an early 9-2 lead in the first quarter and didn't let up.  The lead was lengthened, heading into the half with a score of 17-2.  A lethal combination of an effective full-court press, strong rebounding and aggressive play proved too much for the Chieftains in the 2nd half with the final score ending up 42-15.    The Eagles had a lot of scoring contributors;  Amy Sidaway had 11 points, Aryonna Jackson contributed 6, Lexi Horattas, Kenzie Brinkmann and Layna Sturza each pitched in 4, Bridget Hafner and Alexa Shkreli added 3 a piece, Maggie McGuire, Abigail Klaft and Abbie Brecht scored 2 each and Londyn Maples scored 1.   The team travels to Berkley on Friday night for their first away game of the season!
